Happy Halloween !

Good Morning Ladies,

What a magnificent fall day today is. The air is crisp, the leaves crunch under your feet as your walking, the sun is out and it is a magnificent day in New England. Can you tell how much I love our seasons.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is Block A Month. I cannot believe we are in our eleventh month, one more to go and we would have finished another year of this. I want to point out that this is such a large quilt that you may consider making it two quilts instead of one large one. This will make two good sized lap size quilts. Just a thought.

Guild is not next Friday it is the Friday after. The second Friday in November is the 14th. I will be giving out the last two installments of the Mystery Quilt Directions. Decembers meeting will be our holiday party. This in the past has always been a fun night. We will have a Yankee swap again. The limit is $20.00 and must be a quilt related item, it can be bought or made. I will supply the bags. It will be our usual pot luck dinner and I am sure with all our good cooks out there the food will be wonderful. Larry and I will supply the paper goods and drinks. It is always a fun night.

We still have openings in our Lasagna Class, with the cost of the class you get the following: pre cut strips in your favorite colorway for a good lap sized quilt, a home cooked lasagna, salad and rolls, instructions for completing you quilt top. In this class you should be able to complete your quilt top and have fun in the mean time. Grab a friend and come on in. You must sign up at least a week in advance so we can pre cut your fabrics for you.

Button Contest
The winner of our Button Contest was Janet Gallagher who guessed 1696, we actually had 1693, Wow amazing to get that close. She not only won all the buttons but won a free class.

Key Tag Drawing
The winner of the key tag drawing was Jean Baker who will get to use $25.00 towards a class or non sale merchandise.

Congratulations to them both.

Have a Wonderful Fall Day, get out there, breath in the fresh air, enjoy life, each day is a gift that should be enjoyed and appreciated to its fullest.

Autumns Colors

Hi,

What a great week end. Thanks to Liz for opening and covering the shop on Saturday, I had a chance to go on another photo shoot. As some may have gathered I am loving being out there and taking pictures. A group of ten of us walked/hiked Worlds End in Hingham Saturday morning. I had a wonderful time. There is nothing like seeing the fall colors, walking in the woods and pondering life. It helps put things into perspective. I feel clear headed and able to take on the world. Look out ladies, changes are a coming!

Thanks for all the support

My Aunt Bea's Passing

I need to say a special thank you to everyone who have helped me thru the last few weeks. As many of you know I (Larry too) had been caring for my Aunt Bea. Bea was the last and closest link to my Dad. I was able to spend the last week with her day and night. I held her hand as she passed away. I had such a void that was almost unbearable. My Dad helped build her apartment house in South Boston. It was a special place. We had her Funeral Mass on the Thursday of the October Holiday Week End which was very emotional. A private cematary service was held Friday afternoon followed by a gathering at a restaurant where we talked about all the good times we shared with Bea.

I got to go away with my Sister Susan and my Daughter Cara to Susan's condo in New Hampshire. It was so picturesque, the fall is a pretty time of year. I got to have some much needed rest and relaxation We rented chick flicks, shopped, ate and had some girl time which I will cherish and remember for a long time. We will now make this a yearly girls week end in memory of Bea.

Now it is time to put the past and sadness behind me, time to remember the good times and move forward. I have a lot of new and exciting plans for my future. I feel strong and able to handle life again. If you have quarreled with some one, been mad at someone, or lost touch with a special someone, make amends. Life is very short, remind that someone that you love them, that you are there for them and let bygones be bygones. Words hurt, they hurt deeply. make peace while you can.

I want to Thank again all the special people who have been there for me and helped me thru these rough times. You all know who you are, Thanks again.

Ocotber 22, 2008

Good Morning,

We will have to admit fall has arrived, it is getting cooler these days but that just motivates me to want to get those unfinished quilts done.

I wanted to let in you on the fact that I pulled 75 bolts of fabrics and have them in the $4.00 a yard specials. These are one yard minimum cuts or till the end of the bolt. Come by early for the best selections, they will not last long.

The winner of the Button Contest was Janet Gallagher, she guessed 1693 and we had 1696 buttons in the jar. Janet will get not only the container of pretty layered buttons but a free class. My thanks to Christine Moriarty who donated and counted them.

The winner of the Key Tag drawing was Jean Baker she wins $25.00 to spend on merchandise or for a class.

Congratulations to you both.

I have been (with help, thanks Georgette) rearranging the store and giving it a fresh clean uncluttered look. Stop by soon and see the changes taking place. More are to come.

Happy Fall to all !

October 17th 2008

What an exciting day we had yesterday! The Soldiers Angels Quilts were picked up and are on there way. The count as of yesterday was 129 quilts. Leslie was blown away by how many we got done. I cannot thank you one and all for all your hard work and to such a worthy cause this is going to. It is not too late to get them to me, she can make one more pick up in another week.

Liz Feitelberg, God Bless her soul, came in and took pictures of every quilt we had in the store as of Wednesday night. What a major undertaking that was. Liz has them posted on our website, just click on the Soldiers Angels Quilt Link and it will get you right to them.

Thank you again one and all for all your hard work and to all my generous ladies who made sure I made my personal quota of quilts to be sent. I was also given a donation of one phone card to go along with each quiltso they could call home.

FYI check out this weeks Quincy Sun, we made it color photo and all on the front page.

Hello Everyone,

Wow what an amazing week end I had. I was away with my sister Susan and my daughter Cara to New Hampshire. We shopped and laughed and had so much fun. The foliage was magnificent too. It was a much need energizing getaway. I feel like I can take on the world again. I needed the R & R.

Don't forget our Sale is this week from Thursday till Saturday. Come drop by, say hello and enjoy the bargains.

Larry was off this past week end leading a Camera Club Trip to Quebec, I cannot wait to see his new pictures hanging in his gallery here at the store. I am sure there will be all new photos as soon as he has had a chance to review and print them.

I just love the fall, the colors are so vibrant, the air is so crisp and all is well with the world.

October 8th, 2008

Just an update with some news. I am so honored to say that we have collected over our 100 quilts to go to the Soldiers Angels Quilts Organization. No other shop in New England even came close to us. The help and donations of so many quilts show what wonderful people I am blessed to know. Thanks to one and all who helped make this come true and for the donations to help defray costs. If there are any other quilts yet to be turned in, you have until October 15th, next Tuesday to do so.

I will be closed tomorrow Thursday, October 9th all day as my Dear Aunt passed away. It is a blessing but will leave an emptiness in my heart. Bea was an amazing woman and did it her way till the end.

This is the Holiday week end, I will be open this Friday from 9:00 - 3:00. There will be no Guild Meeting this month. I will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I will be back to regular store hours as of Tuesday.

I will be off for some fun and relaxation with my sister Susan and my daughter Cara to New Hampshire and hope to see some great fall foliage, take some great pictures with my love of photography. I have joined the South Shore Camera Club and have entered my very first competition. I may never be as good as Larry but we can have a lot of fun! Everyone must expand there horizons, this will be fun!

My last words are from the heart. Life is too short live well, laugh often and love with all your heart.
