August 9, 2011

My how time flies. I could not believe I have not posted since my Washington Trip. Well that trip did me in, it was beautiful but it also convinced me to take care of myself. I have since then, had a total left knee replacement. I am three weeks out of surgery, a much needed surgery I might add. Life is going along well, but learning to walk again is not easy. I have had a bad left knee for almost eight to ten years now. The last four years I have had no cartilage or cushion in the knee cap at all. I was in the end grinding bone on bone. Not pretty and very sore. I had not been able to walk steps normally. I have been one step at a time walking up or down them. This week I could actually do four steps in a row one after another. Huge success. I have a lot of therapy ahead of me, but it will be all worth it. I am counting the days till fall when I can go walking and hiking and enjoy life like I have not for many years.

So that is what is all news about me for now. I will try to post more often and update with my progress.

Thanks to all who have sent cards, emailed and flowers. It has been wonderful hearing from you all.

Magnolias in Bloom

The Magnolia Blossoms were the largest I have ever seen. Some of the blossoms were larger than my hand. The colors and the scent were amazing.

I hope you enjoy my pictures.

Cherry Blossom Time in DC

The Cherry Blossoms were beautiful, with the gentle breeze the petals fell like new fallen snow. They smell was intoxicating. To sit on the bench and take it all in was breathtaking.

4/13/11

I cannot believe it has been so long since I have posted. Life is plugging along here. We have been busy. We just came back from DC with a camera club group of twenty on a world wind tour of the city. What more could you ask for, good friends, taking pictures and good food. We took the train down and got to socialize along the way. The freedom to get up and walk around and talk was nice.

Hello to those who have stayed in touch, I owe a card to one dear friend and will get it out this week end to you. The family is all doing well and we are in the process of making wedding descisions with Cara and Tim. The time will fly by quickly and they are such a happy couple. Oh to be young and planning a wedding again. We did go dress shopping and she found the perfect dress. I did not even cry while doing so either, but we all knew when she put that dress on that it was the one. Oh happy days are ahead for us all.

Time to head out to work. Stay warm and dry today if you can.

Bloody cold

Morning,

It is Bloody Cold out there! I need really warm sunshine to bake these old weary bones of mine.

All is well here. The wedding was wonderful and very touching. They wrote their vows and it was lovely. It felt good to get together for "good times". We need more of them in our lives.

Not much new to report here. I am still on my cleaning binge. I am slowly parting with old books, magazines and stuff...I need to remove the clutter. It feels good and when you can either find someone who can use it or drop it in a Goodwill Box it is the right thing to do. To have something just sit, not be used, worn, read or looked at for so many years it is time to move it out. Don't worry Larry is safe, he is not a giveaway. He is my rock, he is my anchor, he makes me want to be a better person. He gets me, for the good and bad times he keeps me grounded. That in itself is amazing.

Well folks, I am off and running for the day again. Just had a minute and thought I would post again.

Enjoy the day, appreciate it, truly look for something good int he day. Life is way too short to be wasted.

Fun Fun Fun

I am in my element. My Brother Paul and Lorena are getting married on Sunday at their new house. I am catering the event. It will be Italian all the way. I have help from Susan, Cara, Larry, Ian and others too. My sister Nancy is even getting involved from Virginia, she is having flowers for the tables sent up. My house smells so wonderful. We will take care of everything from flowers to all the food and the cake. This is going to be a wonderful week end. I will try to post pictures after the big event. My Mom would be proud of us all for making it such a special gathering.

All is well and life is good. My heart is swelled with love and pride for my family.

Pictures soon to come.

Tuesday 2/22/11

Morning,

I am so cold right now I swear I have no blood in me. Some days I just cannot warm up. I have on many layers and actually enjoy going out in the car to my clients so I can blast the heater in my car to get warmed.

Life otherwise is just great. Cara and Susan are in Cancun right now. They say it is 74 sunny hot and lovely. They are working on their tans and when I see them I will be very jealous. That is what is missing, baked in sunshine. I am happy for them both, they have had so much going on that this is a much deserved break for them. I am saving my vacation time to go to Washington in April for Cherry Blossom Time. We will be going by train and that is my favorite way to get there. We are going with some very good friends and I know we will have a blast. We are having fun planning more trips for the next few months. One being a return trip to Acadia in the Spring. We are hoping to make it to the Cape in the next month or two for a long week end getaway. That really helps break up the winter.

Family life is going well, everyone is fine. Work is a bit crazy, but to be expected at times.

So I hope you are all well, Wendy it was really nice to hear from you. Susan I got your letter, thanks. Has anyone been down by the old shop? They tore down the building that Hairplace One was in. The place looks odd to have it gone.

Gotta run to my next client.

Life is fun and easy without the long work load of having the shop. Larry and I put in a lot of hard hours to run it and in the end closing it brought us new life. Be happy for us.
